Marlon Wayans joins G.I. Joe

Marlon Wayans has signed for the role of Ripcord in the upcoming Paramount film adaptation of G.I. Joe – which is being directed by Stephen Sommers. Marlon Wayans - Premiere Magazine's The New Power Celebrating Hollywood Power Players Under the Age of 35 - Forbidden City - Hollywood, CA, USA © Lee Roth / RothStock / PR PhotosVariety reports Wayans is set to join Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui on the film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is said to be in talks with Paramount for a role in the film. The movie is set 10 years in the future and features a screenplay from Stuart Beattie. Paul Lovett & David Elliot and Skip Woods provided earlier drafts of the script. The film is set to start shooting in February in Los Angeles.G.I. Joe is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura with Brian Goldner. Sommers and partner Bob Ducsay have also signed on for producing duties. The movie is scheduled to be released Aug. 7, 2009.
