Actors Dafoe and Ganz in Athens to shoot new Angelopoulos film

Athens - Actors Willem Dafoe, Irene Jacob and Bruno Ganz arrived in Athens Friday to begin shooting parts of a new film by Greek director Theodoros Angelopoulos. The Dust of Time is the second part of a trilogy that starts with the film The Weeping Meadow (2004) and filming will take place in the Nizhni Novgorod region of Russia, and in Kazakhstan, Berlin, Rome, New York and Canada. Dedicated to Greek expatriates in the Soviet Union from the period 1953 to 1970, The Dust of Time tells the story of a 50-year-old movie maker who films the epic destiny of his parents and their frustrated loves during the Cold War. The winner of the Golden Palm in Cannes in 1998, Angelopoulos' new film is expected to be finished this year and screened at the Cannes Film Festival. © 2008 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
