Guillermo del Toro looking to adapt Frankenstein

Director Guillermo del Toro has told MTV News that he wants to bring the "definitive take" on Mary Shelley's classic "Frankenstein" story to the big screen. Guillermo Del Toro - Hollywood Reporter's 33rd Annual Key Art Awards Recognizing Movie Advertising's Best Creative Minds - Arrivals - Hollywood, CA, USA - Hollywood, CA, USA © Lee Roth / RothStock / PR PhotosIn an interview with MTV News, the director said he was in the earliest stages of pre-production on his vision of the Frankenstein story – which will not be a literal adaptation of the classic novel.Del Toro stated: “The only way to do the Shelley novel is to actually do a four-hour miniseries. But I think there permutations in which you can tell the myth in a different way.”It is not known how the director will work the project into his film schedule – which already has him putting the finishing touched on the sequel to Hellboy. He is also committed to adaptations of HP Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness," Edgar Rice Burrough's "Tarzan," and Roald Dahl's "The Witches." His name is also attached to film adaptations of the graphic novel "The Coffin" and the British mini-series "The Champions."
