Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost’s Mr. Eko) will take on the role of Heavy Duty for Paramount and Stephen Sommers upcoming live action adaptation of G.I. Joe.
Said Taghmaoui has been announced for the role of Breaker, the team's communications specialist.
The film, which was written by Stuart Beattie, is based on popular Hasbro action figures, comic book series and Saturday morning cartoon series. The series featured a group of military soldiers fighting a terrorist group known as Cobra.
For the film, G.I. Joe (which stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity) will be an international force located in Brussels and fighting Cobra – which is ran by a Scottish weapon’s dealer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Taghmaoui will join Sienna Miller, Byeong-Heon Lee and Rachel Nichols on the film. The movie is set for an August 2009 release.
