Viola Davis set to star in Doubt

Viola Davis has signed on to play Mrs. Muller for Miramax’s screen take on John Patrick Shanley's Tony-winning play Doubt.Davis will join Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman on the film – which will be directed by Shanley (who also wrote the adaptation). Amy Adams is in talks for the role of Sister James in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.The film is produced by Scott Rudin with Mark Roybal. Celia Costas is set to handle executive producing.Doubt is set in 1960’s in a Catholic school. A nun confronts a priest after suspecting he abused a black student. He denies the charges but the play, which had only four characters, has much of the dialogue center on themes of religion, morality and authority. Production started last week in New York.
