Golden Compass finds summit box-office rankings

New York - Fantasy-action adaptation The Golden Compass opened as the top-grossing film during the three-day weekend in North America, according to preliminary studio estimates issued Sunday.

Based on a Philip Pullman novel, the film is headlined by Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman. It sold 26.1 million dollars in tickets from Friday-Sunday, enough to easily top the three-day box-office rankings.
