Michelle Williams is the latest Hollywood star to sign up for Martin Scorsese’s drama Shutter Island.
Variety reports Williams will play the wife of U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) for Scorsese and Paramount Pictures. She is the latest actor to sign on to the project – which includes Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley. The film is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Dennis Lehane.
The film’s script was adapted by Laeta Kalogridis with Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer, Brad Fischer and Scorsese set for producing duties.
The plot follows Daniels and his partner as they travel to a remote New England island in 1954 to figure out how a multiple murderess escaped a hospital for the criminally insane.
Williams just hit the screen in the ensemble cast film I’m Not There – which is a biopic on Bob Dylan by director Todd Haynes. She is scheduled to star with Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman in the drama The Tourist for director Marcel Langenegger.
