Josh Brolin in talks for Milk

Josh Brolin has been approached to join Sean Penn for the upcoming Focus Features’ biopic Milk. The film (about late gay-rights activist Harvey Milk) is set to be directed by Gus Van Sant and will start shooting in January. Josh Brolin - Into The Blue Movie Premiere - Arrivals - Mann Village Theater - Westwood, CA © Glenn Harris / PhotorazziVariety reports Brolin has been approached for the role of Dan White - the San Francisco county supervisor who killed Milk (Penn) and Mayor George Moscone in 1978. The film will be co-financed by Groundswell Prods. with Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen producing along with Groundswell CEO Michael London. It features a screenplay by Dustin Lance Black.The movie is scheduled to be shot entirely in San Francisco – the city where Milk became the first openly gay man elected to office in 1977. It is the first feature film to adapt Milk’s life story. Another film, The Mayor of Castro Street, has been in development for 15 years with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, but is stuck in limbo due to the writers strike.
