Angelina Jolie has signed to take on the role of intelligence operative Kathi Lynn Austin. Paramount acquired the life rights to Austin with the hopes her story will provide a solid thriller franchise for Jolie.

Variety reports Austin has handled field missions all around the world (including Africa, Europe and Central America). The film version of her story will follow a fictional arms dealer who will be based on Victor Bout (a Russian thought to be one of the world's biggest arms movers).
The film is scheduled to be produced by Media Talent Group's Geyer Kosinski. The studio and Kosinski have started the search for a writer with hopes the script can be written following the end of the writers strike. The film’s pitch was said to be similar to The Bourne Identity, and was bought by Paramount production president Brad Weston.
