Steve Carr tackles Kevin James' Mall Cop

Director Steve Carr has been recruited for the upcoming Kevin James comedy Mall Cop. The film is being made through Columbia Pictures for an early 2008 release date.Variety reports the Sony-based Happy Madison is set to produce the film with James, Jeff Sussman and Todd Garner. The film’s most recent draft was written by Steve Pink (High Fidelity) – based on a version that was penned by James and Nick Bakay.Mall Cop follows a mild-mannered security guard (James) who finds himself in a “Die Hard” situation when organized thieves take over his mall. Carr is no stranger to the comedy genre with credits including Are We Done Yet?, Daddy Day Care, Dr. Dolittle 2 and Next Friday.
