Actress Lauren Ambrose has signed on to voice a character for Spike Jonze's upcoming Where the Wild Things Are for Warner Bros.
The film is an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's children's tale, and Ambrose is set to provide the voice for KW - one of the giant creatures in the land of the Wild Things.
The film follows a young boy named Max who visits a strange world. Once there, KW and company turn him into their king.
Ambrose’s casting replaces the previously cast Michelle Williams. The Hollywood Reporter has stated Williams left the project after filmmakers felt her voice didn’t match their vision for the character’s voice.
The film, which is being produced by Warner Bros with Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow, was adapted by Jonze and Dave Eggers. Other producers on the project include Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, Sendak, John Carls and Vincent Landay.
Where the Wild Things Are is scheduled to film using real actors, computer animation and live-action puppeteering. The movie will be released in fall 2008.
