Director David R. Ellis has agreed to develop and direct Final Destination 4 for New Line – which has plans to film the movie in 3-D.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Final Destination 4 was written by Eric Bress (who penned the second film in the franchise) and is being overseen by New Line's Richard Brener and Walter Hamada. Ellis handled directing duties on the second film in the series.
Plot details of Final Destination 4 are being kept quiet, but will feature a fresh set of teens fighting death. Naturally, death will get the upper hand throughout the film and the teens will die in a variety of gruesome ways.
Since the first film hit the screen in 2000, The Final Destination franchise has been a solid money maker for New Line. The first film made $53.3 million, sequel raked in $46.5 million and the third managed to make $54 million. The films also have strong sales on home video.
