Bruce Willis signs on for Jonathan Mostow’s Surrogates

Bruce Willis has signed on to star in the sci-fi thriller The Surrogates for Disney. The film will be directed by Jonathan Mostow and is set to go into production in February with shooting in Boston. Pinkville (a drama about the My Lai massacre) was to start production next month with Oliver Stone at the helm. The Surrogates was penned for the screen by Michael Ferris and John Brancato based on the graphic novel from Top Shelf Comix. The two men teamed up with Mostow for 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. They also have penned the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins – which is being financed by Halcyon and directed by McG for Warner Bros. Producing duties on The Surrogates is being handled by Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks are also scheduled to produce.The film’s plot is set the near future – which finds humans living isolation and interacting through surrogate robots (who naturally look better than their owners). Willis will once again don his cop persona as he uses his surrogate to investigates the murders of others’ surrogates. During the investigation, Willis will have to leave his home for the first time in years to solve the conspiracy.
