Actress Katherine Heigl has signed to star in the battle-of-the-sexes comedy The Ugly Truth for Lakeshore Entertainment.
Variety reports the film will reunite director Robert Luketic and writers Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith – who brought Legally Blonde to the screen. It will receive worldwide distribution from Columbia Pictures.
The film’s plot will follow a morning show producer (Heigl) with bad luck in love. She is forced to endure a series of test by her chauvinistic correspondent out to prove his beliefs on relationships and help her finally discover real love.
The film is set to start filming in April with Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi handling producing. Steve Reuther will also be a producer on the film.
The Ugly Truth was greenlit by Lakeshore following Lutz and Smith's rewrite of Nicole Eastman's original script.
