Ephron to direct Meryl Streep in Julia Childs film

Columbia is developing "Julie & Julia," and has cast Meryl Streep as the famous chef Julia Childs and Amy Adams as a mastercook ingenue.
The premise involves a frustrated temp office drone who makes a culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."
She writes of her cooking adventures in a blog that catches on with the epicurious.
Variety reports that Nora Ephron, who is adapting the screenplay from Julie Powell's book "Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen," is attached to direct.
Columbia is shooting for a 2008 start date.
Adams will be seen in the upcoming, "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day," "Charlie Wilson's War" and "Enchanted" according to IMDB.
Streep stars alongside Robert Redford in "Lions for Lambs".
