The film is a biopic of Harlem heroin kingpin Frank Lucas. Lucas grew up in rural, segregated North Carolina. Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe team up in the new Universal Pictures crime drama to tell the true juggernaut success story of a cult hero from the streets of 1970s Harlem in American Gangster - in theaters November 2nd.
