Batman to film first scenes out of Gotham in Hong Kong

Hong Kong - Hollywood's Caped Crusader is to film his first scenes outside Gotham City in Hong Kong with the International Finance Centre and the Peninsula Hotel used for key scenes, a newspaper said Monday. A major outdoor stunt for the new Warner Bros movie The Dark Knight is to be filmed at the International Finance Centre (IFC) complex while the Peninsula Hotel will be used for other scenes, the South China Morning Post reported. Stars Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman, but not Michael Caine, will travel to Hong Kong for the shoot in November, the first time in the film series that Batman has ventured out of his home in Gotham City, the newspaper said. Local councillors in Hong Kong last week called for more details about the filming schedule, fearing that it might cause traffic chaos in the busy Mid-Levels part of town. However, the Post said in its report that rumours of filming on the Mid-Levels escalator were incorrect and added that there would be no road closures caused by the movie schedule. © 2007 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
