John Ridley has been hired by George Lucas to write WWII action adventure 'Red Tails.'

According to Variety the movie is based on a story by Lucas about the Tuskegee Airmen. The film will follow a group of young pilots as they battle racism to become distinguished flyers and break down colour barriers as the first African-American pilots in the US military.

I don't think Mr. Lucas can do it. I like the Star Wars story, but the acting, script and directing involved in it was horrible. Maybe he's different now. I hope so. I mean, he's the one who wanted to make the 3 other Star Wars movies, which everyone said shouldn't have been made, and he wants to make a 4th Indiana Jones movie. The last one was titled 'The Last Crusade' so what is Harrison Ford supposed to do now? I think that George Lucas should work with new actors(if he has to work in films). After all, that's what he did in Star Wars. Hopefully this film will be better.

I hope this project works. Does anyone know when it's finally getting off the ground? Two very good people are working on it. The whole story of the Tuskegee Airmen, from a political and military standpoint, has yet to be told. Hopefully they can do it and open a new door for more forgotten stories like this to be told.

continuing....I acccidentaly got cut off.
As I was saying, my experiences in the 1950s US Air Force, where Tuskegee airmen were discriminated against, demonstrated to me personally the way exceptional black pilots were treated. As a white officer, aviator, I flew with them in the same squadron, and saw first hand how they were treated....badly I might add, by the general population, despite the fact that 'Chappie' James, a Tuskegee-trained pilot would prove to be the most outstanding and highet ranking black officer (he became a four-star general and head of NORAD) in the US Air Force.

I was honored to be in his command and in his presence, to see first-hand the courage and honesty and care he continually displayed to us all. He used to tell us in squadron meetings that we should try giving back, instead of taking from the military and from America. John Kennedy, who lived nearby in Hyannisport watched him closely, and eventaully harvardized his statement to become 'As not what your country can do for you...etc...'hollandjs@hotmail.com

Great. The Tuskegee story needs to be kept alive. I had the pleasure of flying as a white officer, with former Tuskegee pilot Daniel 'Chappie' James in the 437th Fighter Interceptor Squadron on Cape Cod. Even though racism prevailed when I was in his command, he rose above it, and eventually became the highest ranking (four star) general in the US Air Force. I saw racism first hand in the 1950s when I, and my other white aviators, could live off base, while Chappie had to live on base, in military housing. Same was true of his first officer, also black, who did live off base, but in a black ghetto in nearby New Bedford Mass. hollandjs@hotmail.com
