Natalie Martinez is in talks to star in Universal Pictures' 'Death Race.'
The futuristic action film is set in a U.S. where prison inmates are forced to compete in the brutal competition.
Already cast are Jason Statham, Ian McShane, Joan Allen and Tyrese Gibson.
According to Variety Martinez will play Case, a woman who is assigned to help Statham's character navigate but ends up helping him in his escape plans.
Statham will play a prisoner only a week from release who has to compete and goes on to become a crowd favourite, known as Frankenstein.
Allen will play the warden of the prison who organises the race and forces Statham to enter the race. McShane has been cast a coach and Gibson as Machine Gun Joe, a prisoner seeking to escape.
Paul W.S. Anderson is directing with production due to begin later this year.
The film is remake of the cult classic Death Race 2000.
