'Eddie the Eagle' set to fly again
By M&C Aug 8, 2007, 12:41 GMT
The long-gestating film about eccentric British ski jumper 'Eddie the Eagle' is finally set to start production early 2008.
Variety reports John Heyman is financing the film with Steve Coogan cast as Eddie and Declan Lowney set to direct from a script by Sean Macaulay.
The ski jumper became the focus of a media frenzy after he took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics, being the only entry in the category Britain had ever put up. He went on to come last in both events and questions were raised as to whether he should have been allowed to compete at all, on safety grounds.
