Alfred Hitchcock’s first film, ‘The Lodger’ is returning to the big screen, this time, a remake to be directed by David Ondaatje (‘Waiting for Dr. MacGuffin’).
Sony Pictures Entertainment release will re-image urban thriller pic in Los Angeles.
Ondaatje adapted screenplay from Marie Belloc Lowndes’ novel which was basis for Hitchcock’s 1927 film.
The original story was based on the hysteria caused by the Jack the Ripper's killing spree that took place over several weeks in 1888.
Ondaatje's adaptation is broken into two converging plot lines, the first a relationship between a psychologically unstable landlady and her lodger, and the second is about a troubled detective engaged in a cat-and-mouse game with an unknown killer.
