Heath Ledger is to star in the adaptation

Ledger will play alongside Abbie Cornish (Somersault) and Oscar-winner Rush in an adaptation of the best-selling Australian novel Candy. The book's author, Luke Davies, adapted the screenplay with Neil Armfield, who will direct the film.The book is described as painful, sexy, tender, and charged with dark humor, Candy provocatively charts the daily rituals of two lovers maintaining a long-term junk habit.
