Steve Martin back as Inspector Jacques Clouseau
By M&C Movie News Jun 13, 2007, 6:02 GMT
Harald Zwart (‘Agent Cody Banks’ and ‘One Night at McCool's’) has been tapped by Columbia Pictures and MGM to helm ‘The Pink Panther 2.’
Back as the clumsy Inspector Jacques Clouseau is Steve Martin playing from a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber.
In January, Sony asked veteran comedy writers Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel to rewrite the sequel of the French detective’s follies.
Robert Simonds is producing, and Shawn Levy, who directed the most recent Pink Panther, is executive producing.
Production is sched for an August start.

Why?Jun 15th, 2007 - 11:41:47
Here's another loser on the increasingly large loser list. This was a mistake from the get go, the first two Clouseau movies (originals) could have been re-released for pure fun and I bet they would have gone over quite well in today's world. This and the perplexing (as in why did they make it and why did they pick that brainless brat) Nancy Drew should make a good double loser bill. Add the already troubled Fantastic 4 dog and we'll have to read about the studio's woes as they try to figure out why the summer started of with a huge bang then wilted.
Dear Hollywood,
If you make a movie that is loathed by both the audience and the critics alike don't make another just like it then wonder why you are losing business. It's movies like this and their force feeding by the media a la the Nancy Drew drivel that is being written currently praising an 'actress' for being related to a star that turns audiences off. In a world where Saw sequels are demanded by both profits and audiences alike one should be able to figure what direction to take.
