Jim Carrey to play gay jailbird

Well here’s a new role for Jim Carrey, a gay conman.
Carrey was just signed to star in ‘I Love You Philip Morris’ (no, we aren’t talking about cigarettes here), to be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (who wrote ‘Bad Santa’ together) from a script based on a fact-based book by Houston Chronicle crime reporter Steve McVicker.
Carrey will play Steven Russell, a married father who ends up in the Texas criminal justice system. He falls in love with his cell mate who eventually is set free which leads Russell to escape from prison four times to try and be with his “lover.”
Project was picked up by Luc Besson’s Europacorp at Cannes however, no start date of production was announced.
