Michael Moore puts his money where his heart is

Two years ago, Michael Moore started up the Traverse City Film Festival in Traverse City, Michigan. Now he is refurbishing a 58 year old theater in that town with new screen and projection equipment to house the Festival and operate on weekends dring the winter and daily during the rest of the year.

Moore struck a deal with Carmike Cinemas who own two multiplexes in Traverse, that he will only screen films that open on 200 or fewer screens nationwide.

“Residents of the town will now be able to see great films the way they were intended to be seen: projected on a big screen with great sound in an atmosphere where going to the movies can be an exhilarating experience," said Moore.
