WB cranks up casting on Rodanthe

Warner Bros. is cranking up production of ‘Rodanthe’ by beefing up its cast.To be directed by George Wolfe (‘Lackawanna Blues’), the romantic drama stars Diane Lane, Richard Gere, Christopher Meloni ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" ) and James Franco (Spidey’s friend Harry Osborn).Ken Hixon and Ann Peacock are adapting for screen, a novel by Nicholas Sparks. Story is about a doctor (Gere) who stops at an inn in North Carolina while traveling to reconcile with his estranged son (Franco). At a beach town, the doctor has a life-changing romance with an unhappily married woman (Lane). Meloni will play the role of Lane's husband.Warner Bros. has Denise Di Novi producing.
