Looks like somebody didn't do their homework before publishing the LA Confidential article. There are two movies in the works. White Jazz, which is this film based on one of the books in the series and has nothing in common with LA Confidential, and an LA Confidential sequel being planned by Curtis Hanson, Brian Helgeland and James Ellroy, which will follow the same characters 10 years later. They can't use the character of Exley for White Jazz because of the sequel. The Crowe and Bassinger characters aren't even in the White Jazz story. They would, however, be in the sequel, so there's a good chance they'll use Bassinger. Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce would definitely be in it and they've both said they're interested.
I am so sick of the Hollywood age double standard. She wins an Oscar for the role and now they don't want her! Whatever

She isn't too old! - everyone has aged since the lst LA Confidential. I think RC and KB really 'clicked' in the movie...would be nice to see how they are fairing in Arizona or where ever they headed too in the movie.....Kim was older & wiser than RC in the lst picture...what's the big deal. LA Confidential 2 would not be the same without all of the same main characters (that were left alive)
