Bruckheimer and Bay to do Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Internet is abuzz with a report on IESB that Jerry Bruckheimer has tapped Michael Bay to direct a screen version of the best selling video game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Bruckheimer and Bay previously worked together on the Bad Boys franchise,’The Rock,’ ‘Pearl Harbor’ and ‘Armageddon.’But the caveat is they are reporting that Disney Studios are “hopeful” that Bay will direct after he has completed and released ‘Transformers.’Now, I am not an English language major but "hopeful" does not mean “sure.” Many a Hollywood deal has fallen apart over the smallest detail.IESB maintains the feature is “based on the video game, which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.”They are also reporting the creator of the game, Jordan Mechner, said, "Rather than do a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the new videogame, we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story - much as 'Pirates' did with the theme park ride."Talk is the pic will be released in summer 2009.
