'Bond' writers do 'Barbarella'

Martha De Laurentiis and her husband Dino De Laurentiis EPA/CLAUDIO PERILegendary producers Dino and Martha De Laurentiis have completed a rights deal that will enable them to reinvent "Barbarella," reports Variety.Purvis and Wade turned in the scripts for the last three James Bond films, "Casino Royale," "Die Another Day," "The World is Not Enough."Jane Fonda made her bones as a space vixen in the 1968 Roger Vadim-directed fantasy film that was based on the 1962 Jean-Claude Forest comic.The Italian producers will redo Barbarella as "a free, modern gal who survives in a futuristic world through her intelligence, fighting skills and sexuality".Purvis and Wade have recently finished a final draft for the 22nd installment of the James Bond franchise which will be a sequel to "Casino Royale," the most financially successful Bond ever.
