Rachel Weisz out of 'Mummy 3'

Rachel Weisz has dropped out of "The Mummy 3," the third chapter of the lucrative action franchise.
Brendan Fraser will return for the Universal Pictures project, which will be fillmed in China and also feature action hero Jet Li as a villain. Rob Cohen will direct.
The British actress won an Oscar last year for her supporting role in "The Constant Gardener" and then had a baby with her fiance, director Darren Aronofsky.
Allegedly, Fraser is said to have secured a large paycheck for the project according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Weisz and Universal cited scheduling conflicts. Her upcoming schedule includes "The Brothers Bloom" and "Dirt Music".
Scribes Miles Millar and Alfred Gough are rejigging the new script to accomodate the casting changes.
Universal is planning a Summer 2008 release.

conflicting shedules? you don't write out a main character because of conflicting schedules, postpone it, i'd rather wait and have her in there. this was a big mistake and will cost the makers dearly in sales, every movie that i've seen do this ends up looking like a mockery and is quickly forgotten. two that come to mind are Inspector Gadget and George of The Jungle, kids movies yes but still good(well at least the originalls were) both of those movies idiotically replaced almost all the main characters.
