If it comes down to a stamina race, Leonardo DiCaprio wins!
Last year it was ‘The Departed’ and ‘Blood Diamond’ both acclaimed acting roles for DiCaprio.
This year the Academy Award nominated actor will team up with his ‘Titanic’ love interest, Kate Winslet for the Sam Mendes directed, DreamWorks produced, ‘Revolutionary Road’ which begins shooting this month.
And now Warner Bros. has announced that DiCaprio is in talks to star in the screen adaptation of David Ignatius’ novel ‘”Body of Lies.” ‘The Departed’ screenwriter William Monahan is penning adaptation and Ridley Scott will direct.
This is the third script Monahan has penned for Scott after ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ and ‘Tripoli,’ (which has yet to be put into poduction).
DiCaprio will play an ex-journalist-turned CIA agent who's sent to Amman to work with Jordan's intelligence chief to track an Al Qaeda leader rumored to be planning attacks against America.
Scott will shoot in Morocco, Washington, D.C., Europe and the Middle East.
DiCaprio has another two movies in play as well.
Scheduled for 2008 is the Martin Scorsese directed, ‘The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt’ which will look at the formative years of the 26th President of the United States, from his transformation from a privileged New York politician to commander of the Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War.
‘The Chancellor Manuscript’ may be a new franchise DiCaprio will start up – from the novel by Robert Ludlum, DiCaprio will play Peter Chancellor, a writer who becomes tangled in a web involving Washington power brokers and a blackmailed plot targeted to alter U.S. policy.
