Irukandji jellyfish species responsible for the death of American tourist Robert King in 2002. Blame a tiny jellyfish that apparently packs a fatal wallop, production had to come to a halt on Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson's latest feature, "Fool's Gold", in Australia, according to the publicist Fiona Searson.
The Australian AP reports that Hudson and McConaughey had to stop filming the final scene of the adventure picture at Hervey Bay in Queensland state when a lethal irukandji jellyfish was found in the water.
"We have a marine expert on the film to ensure everyone's safe, and he found the jellyfish," Searson said. "We decided not to put the cast into the water because of the jellyfish."
Due to the near exposure, the last scenes will be filmed "at an alternate location."
The AP reports the native irukandji jellyfish "has a thimble-sized translucent body with 30-centimetre trailing stingers containing venom described by scientists as among the deadliest in the animal world."

Great publicity for the movie, however, I live in Hervey Bay, Australia and have never heard of the jellyfish being sighted in these waters.
Was it traveling with a crocodile and a sting ray?
Crikey it makes a great story !!!
