Wahlberg and Damon to duke it out in boxing ring

Yesterday we told you how it was Brad Pitt vs. Leonardo DiCaprio in a battle for picture rights. Today it is Mark Wahlberg vs. Matt Damon in the boxing ring.
Writer director Darren Aronofsky (‘The Fountain') is in talks to direct Wahlberg and Damon in the boxing drama 'The Fighter' for Paramount Pictures.
Pic would mark Aronofsky's second studio project. Sci-fi romancer 'The Fountain' bombed at the box office when Warner Bros. Pictures released it last fall.
"Fighter" is based on the rise of Boston boxer "Irish" Micky Ward, who nabbed the world lightweight title with the help of his once down-and-out half-brother Dicky, who became a trainer.
Wahlberg and Damon have said they would make "Fighter" if they like a rewrite that Paul Attanasio is doing based on a draft by Lewis Collick, Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy.
Filming may begin in Massachusetts this summer.
