Quentin Tarantino's Bond blast
Mar 23, 2007, 15:00 GMT
Quentin Tarantino has accused Bond bosses of stealing his idea to make 'Casino Royale' into the latest Bond film.
The 43-year-old director was in the running to take over directing duties for the last 007 adventure and suggested that Ian Fleming's book would be perfect.
Tarantino said: "I resent that none of them gave me a shout out to recognise that I'm the one who got them to make 'Casino Royale'."
In May 2004, Tarantino publicly revealed his Bond ambition, saying: "I've always wanted to do it. I bumped into Pierce Brosnan and we talked about it. He liked the idea.
"I would like to do the original 'Casino Royale' book and do it more or less the way the Ian Fleming book is. I don't know if they're going to go for it, but I'm letting them know I'm interested."
After Daniel Craig replaced Pierce Brosnan as the suave spy, Tarantino was told by bosses they were not interested in his pitch.
Tarantino also claims movie mogul Harvey Weinstein put forward his name to Bond chiefs.
The 'Pulp Fiction' director said: "They told him, 'We're afraid Quentin's going to make it too good and f**k the rest of the series.' "

Quentin you of all people should know there's no honor among thieves. The Studios are full of sharks and cut-throats with no original ideas, just waiting to rip-off ANYBODY they have no respect for, just like Sammy Glick did to that poor slob of a screenwriter in 'What Makes Sammy Run'.
Without 'leverage', ie. either a gun to the head, or an expensive phalanx of entertainment lawyers, movie moguls will continue to steal, with an arrogance that's as old as the industry. In your case, EON probably figured you carved your entire career re-jigging grindhouse flicks absorbed 24/7 when you ran a video shop, so there's no problem about taking your great ideas to the cleaners.
And hey, every time some shocked writer comes out of the woodwork of a darkened movie theater with the color drained out of their face mumbling, 'That's MY script up on the screen that I submitted to those creeps at the studio, and they ripped me off', its usually true.
But who're they gonna' call ? Johnny Cochrane? Ghostbusters ?
Nah ... they'll just slink off and fade away into the sunset, while the fat cats, get fatter.
Best to keep your mouth shut and keep all your great ideas to yourself -
