A new box of chocolates for Forrest Gump II?
By Stone Martindale Mar 9, 2007, 3:03 GMT
Well why not. Hollywood is remaking Westworld and The Birds for heaven's sake, so why not a sequel to the popular Forrest Gump film?
The Forrest Gump book has a sequel, and both books are written by Winston Groom. Five years ago the screenwriter for the first Gump, Eric Roth, was taken in by Paramount to pen the follow up. Filmstalker reports "it looks set to be resurrected."
Rumors have run amok that Paramount have picked up this script and is pushing it forward.
Filmstalker dishes that five years ago Paramount couldn't get the sequel going any further because Gump author Groom and Paramount had money issues and legal "Hollywood squabbles."
Cinema Blend has alleged all that bad blood is laid to rest, and the project is a go.
The plot for the sequel essentially takes Forrest down to square one, broke and with his son, and in classic Gumpian situational luck he rises like ol' Dixie once again. Something like that.
No word regarding Tom Hanks, and all the movie sites spout "Paramount comes' a courtin'" rumors saying he is being pursued heavily for this role. More to come.
