Cruz and Kingsley cast in 'Elegy'

Production Weekly is reporting that actor Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz are attached to star in the feature "Elegy," based on author Philip Roth's 2001 novel "The Dying Animal".

Kingsley will play David Kepesh, an TV culture critic and lecturer at a New York college who meets Consuela Castillo, played by Cruz, a patrician student and daughter of wealthy Cuban exiles, who promptly puts his life into erotic disarray.

Production Weekly summarizes the story as a tale of unraveling madness spurred by erotic jealousy. Kepesh has experimented for years living an abstinent life in pursuit of a spiritual enlightenment, but Consuela unleashed his male lust and the story goes from there.
