James Cameron's Sanctum a Rogue film

Variety reports Rogue Pictures has inked with James Cameron to co-write and produce "James Cameron's Sanctum," a live-action drama going into production next spring in high-definition 3-D. James Cameron - © Glenn Harris / Photorazzi

James Cameron - © Glenn Harris / PhotorazziGary Johnstone will direct the film, the storyline involves a deep-sea diving team headed by a father and son. When the team heads to uncharted depths, a life-threatening crisis occurs.Variety reports that Cameron is rewriting the script with scribe John Garvin.Earthship Productions, one of Cameron's production companies, will utilize ambitious technology for the undersea storyline. The film budget is estimated at the low $20 million range. Cameron will produce it with Andrew Wight through Earthship.Cameron is currently catching hell from Christian groups over his Jesus' tomb documentary set to air on the Discovery Network March 4th. His purpose for the documentary is to examine new evidence that claims Jesus had a wife and child.Cameron is also preparing to direct a big budget 3-D drama "Avatar," starring Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana. Production offices have opened up at Playa Vista stages near Los Angeles.
