Leonardo DiCaprio has a special bond with his 'Blood Diamond' co-star Djimon Hounsou.
The actor has revealed the time he spent in Africa shooting the movie had a big impact on his life, and the experience was enriched by his friendship with Djimon.
Leonardo said in an interview with Scotland's Daily Record newspaper: "We had a real connection. Djimon was an astounding force of nature and we became great friends as a result of spending a lot of time together."
Leonardo, 32, was so touched by the African people he met during the five months he spent in the country, he decided to sponsor an orphan at a local orphanage.
Leonardo - who has been nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in the movie - now realises how privileged some Americans are.
He said: "You come back to the US with a different sort of feeling about where you come from. We do live the luxurious life compared to these people."
