The poster for the 12th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) has been released. The fest, the largest in Asia is held annually in mid-October.
The poster ‘Sand Play 0305-F’ is by Changyoung Kim , designed by PIFF Art Director, Soondae Choi .
Changyoung Kim, is known as the the “Sand Picture” artist as he has painted similar sand paintings over the last 30 years. Born in Daegu, Korea, Kim in 1978 moved to Haundae, Busan, home of the Pusan Festival. He receives inspiration for his paintings from images on Busan's beaches.
‘Sand Play 0305-F’, is drawn from traces of footprints and scratches made by hand using a technique called trompe-l'oeil on a canvas covered with a thin layer of real sand.
The poster represents the ‘Hand Printing’, activity, one of PIFF’s major events where film dignitaries are asked to enshrine their handprints and signatures. The poster depicts well the image of the festival and the city of Busan by the ocean.
