Variety has confirmed that "24" star Kiefer Sutherland will spend his "24" hiatus starring in "Mirrors," a supernatural thriller to be directed by Alexandre Aja.

The film is will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.
Sutherland became available to star in the movie when his Jack Bauer character in a "24" feature film were postponed, because the script wasn't finished. Fox will not begin production on the film until the seventh series has wrapped production.
Just last year Sutherland sealed a deal worth more than $40 million to continue the series on television, taking Jack Bauer into his eight season.
Variety describes the film "Mirrors," as a horror tinged action thriller, with Sutherland playing an ex-cop who works security at a mall and discovers something quite wrong in the mirrors of a department store. He tries to discover the origin of the evil.
Attached are producers Marc Sternberg, Alexandra Milchan and Gregory Levasseur. Andrew Hong is executive producer.
Aja directed the horror film, "The Hills Have Eyes," and has penned the most recent draft of the "Mirrors" script.
Variety reports "Mirrors" begins pre-productin May 1, mostly in Romania, wrapping in mid-July and then goes right back to the series in late July.
