Kidman injured on LA set of 'The Invasion'

Actress Nicole Kidman was among eight people injured on a movie set in downtown Los Angeles early this morning when shortly after midnight a car collided with a light pole, police said. Nicole Kidman - © SOLARPIX.COM

Nicole Kidman - © SOLARPIX.COM Photorazzi"Eight people complained of injury, including Nicole Kidman, and went to the hospital and were later released," Vernon said.The incident occurred in the 300 block of West 6th Street when a vehicle surrounded by cameras spun out of control after it hit a light pole, said LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon.The Los Angeles Times reported Kidman's publicist, Catherine Olim, stating the 39-year-old actress was examined at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and later released.The Oscar-winning actress is starring as a psychiatrist along with Daniel Craig in the David Kajganich scripted science fiction film "The Invasion," based on Jack Finney's "The Body Snatchers." The film is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, with notable crew DP Rainier Klausmann, costume designer Jacqueline West and Stunt Coordinator Keith Adams. During the scene, Kidman was trying to escape zombie-like characters on the hood of the Jaguar when the crash occurred, Olim said.LAPD Capt. Andrew Smith said Kidman was a passenger in the vehicle that spun out of control during filming. Smith said his officers were told the vehicle was not involved in a stunt when it went out of control."She had a boo-boo. But one of the people involved suffered a broken arm," Smith said. No word on which cast or crew member that was. The accident is being investigated by Central Division traffic officers.

I saw it on the TV news. It's pretty sad that the headline is that she was injured since she was inside the car with her seatbelt on. Several stuntmen we’re on top of the car with no protection and were injured. It’s like they didn’t even matter. I hate Hollywood people.
