Ewan McGregor is being tabbed as a potential cast lead to portray Kurt Cobain in a movie in development about the late rock legend's life.
During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with drug addiction and the media pressures surrounding him and his rocker ife Courtney Love. Cobain battled depression, and various ailments including intense pain due to an undiagnosed chronic stomach condition. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his home, officially ruled a suicide by self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. Since then, the circumstances surrounding his death have sparked analysis and debate. The "Jackboots on Whitehall" actor has been eyed for the role by Courtney Love - Cobain's widow. According to an unnamed source in the Daily Express newspaper: "A number of actors have been talked about for the role but Ewan has emerged as the number one choice. Despite being 35, he looks young enough to play him." Courtney decided to tell Kurt's story on the big screen after acquiring the rights to 'Heavier Than Heaven' - a biography about the rock star written by Charles Cross. Last week, Love confirmed it was being discussed with several film studios. Love spilled some details on moonwashedrose.com: "It has no script and no director attached, but if the movie is made it will of course be an A list and high end film." This will be the first big screen portrayal of troubled genius Kurt, and his time in Nirvana and his volatile relationship with Courtney.
