Referring to the post by 'tone' ... it is easy to dislike African Americans when they consider themselves to be African first and American second.

GO BACK TO AFRICA ... or else start referring to yourselves as Americans of African Heritage.

And yes, I am a black American of African heritage.

Lighten up, fools!

Way to say, afro-head. This country needs more bruthas like you. I am sick and tired of the victim mentality of Afro-Americans.

I am Caucasian and my grandmother was a REAL slave, something most blacks know nothing about.

She came here as an indentured servant at the age of 8 to a black family in Chicago. I will not mention the name but they are famous in the publishing and cosmetics businesses.

When times got bad during the depression, they literally kicked her out into the street with only the clothes on her back.

She died in 1995. I spent 50 years in the company of this woman while she was still alive.

I need to start taking lessons from the black community, become a victim, and ask for reparations from blacks.

Don't get me wrong, I know MANY fine black people, just not enough!

All the rest of you are parasites, no better than white trash or any other ethnic trash that consider themselves to be perpetual victims.

If it's so damned bad here, GO BACK TO AFRICA, you African-Americans!

No one will miss you.

You people are silly. Nobody really cares about your thoughts and opinions because your race does not contribute that much positive to the American society. Instead of worrying about some reporter who 'disrespected' you, take a look at your youth and teach them proper behavior so they will stop making babies and quit breaking the law and ending up in prison. America would be so much better off!

Wow!I counted no less than 25 posts on the topic of Afro vs. African. Here's a quick solution to this much over-thought debate.

Why don't I take all of you freaks out and stomp you in the yard. My yard that is. And while I am flattening your Afro with my shoe ... we can work together on which words/phrases you feel should be capitalized and which should be lowercase. Words like 'Arrrg' and 'PPlease stop' and 'I am Bleeding'.

How many gallons of jet fuel did that 'inventor of the internet,' Al Gore, burn flying back and forth to political fundraisers?

And he wants you and me to ride bicycles?

What a hypocritical piece of human excrement he is!

Honestly....while hypocritical -- is the only thing everyone has to do is yell at each other over minor issues?

Quiet frankly...I'm not sure there are many Africian-Americans...considering how many people really came from Africa?

Most people with darker pigmentation haven't even been to Africa. Therefore, everyone is...readfy for this...AMERICANS.

Get over it.

Afro-Americans Ooops I mean African-Americans don't speak for everybody on this earth! Afro-Caribbeans, Afro-Europeans or even Afro-Australians DO NOT GET OFFENDED OR GIVE A SECOND THOUGHT to the word 'AFRO'. This article started off as something positive about a movie holding down the number #1 spot & suddenly turned into a Racial Blog War! Dissecting the word 'YARD' or 'AFRO' to lay a racist blame on the author is irresponsilbe behaviour by the public. This is utterly stupid nonesense. African Americans/Black People have enough to deal with in this World of ours. In other words 'one doesn't need to go looking for racism, racism will always find you when you're a person of colour.' Enjoy the good stuff whenever!

reading all these comments has been greatJan 16th, 2007 - 16:15:04

I am offended by the fact that the children in the picture have spelled out 'Bot Office'. (That's a joke in case you are too serious to figure that out.)

It's a story about what movie made it to the top of the box office. Seesh. If you put this much time into other problems in the world...we probably wouldn't have any.

I am offended. I myself am a teenage girl. I do not find Justin Timberlake attractive and I was not 'oggling' him when I went to see Alpha Dog. How dare you suggest that most teenage girls that saw this movie oggle Justin Timberlake. As a reporter you should get your facts straight.

Get over ourselves?Jan 16th, 2007 - 21:48:37

Interesting enough, why is it always the opposing race telling black people to get over ourselves? A mistake was made in the language of the editorial that required correcting. The corrections were made and hopefully will not be made again. With regards to us 'getting over ourselves', -until simple minded mistakes, by written and spoken word are taken into consideration and not overlooked we as a people will not “get over ourselves”. Success does not subject us to tolerance of belittling or accepting what is considered positive feedback from others in a backhanded manner.

You Don't Speak For The Rest Of Us!Jan 16th, 2007 - 23:53:26

To this 'Get Over Ourselves' poster, Yes mention the correction BUT it doesn't have to be preached over & over again.

What's interesting is your paranoia & loathsome hatred for Caucasians is ridiculous! First of all many people who defended the Author are Visible Minorities like myself, and or Black. The Author made a mistake by saying AFRO.
WE got that. The correction has been stated & the Author, who I'm sure realizes it should have been African American! Done! Also, remember Monsters And Critics.com publications come out of Britain where AFRO is an acceptable term used as in 'Afro Europeans', so the point has been made, GET OVER YOURSELF!
