Shyamalan's 'Avatar' film also revealed

Who would have thought the uncommon title "Avatar" would be in play between two top film makers? Director M. Moore / PhotorazziAccording to Variety and the Reporter, Night has a three-picture deal with Paramounts's MTV Films and Nick Movies to adapt animated television series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" for live-action film. Night will serve as writer, director as well as producer the kid fantasy franchise.Night's "Avatar" is set in an Asian-influenced fantasy world filled by magic and martial arts and follows the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways, and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the other elemental nations of Water, Earth and Air.Nickelodeon's "Avatar" was aimed at 6- to 11-year-olds, and is rated among the top 10 animated series on all of TV among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14, reported Variety.Both Hollywood trades report that Paramount confirmed the pact with Shyamalan just hours after Fox made it's big splash announcing the greenlit James Cameron's "Avatar," the director's first feature film foray since his blockbuster "Titanic."Other than sharing the same name, there is no conection between the two films. Here's where the trade reports get interesting. Variety reports that Paramount said it has registered the name of its project with the Motion Picture Assn. of America. A Fox rep tells Variety, "We own the movie title 'Avatar.' There won't be another film called 'Avatar' coming from anyplace." So who will keep the name, or, can "Avatar" be shared?Variety reports that Shyamalan took the film "Lady in the Water" to Warner Bros. after an acrimonious and public break with Disney, which had passed on the project.

Technically since the television show is called Avatar: The Last Airbender, the two movies would not be sharing the same name if one is only called Avatar.

There already is a show called 'Avatar, the Last Airbender.' So technically, Cameron is too late, as long as Shyamalan's movie is based on the show.
So, Cameron... go eat some crow.
