Adding to the Oscar ® buzz and other Award kudos surrounding Forest Whitaker, Fox Searchlight and the Film Society of Lincoln Center will honor the actor in a weekend salute January 19-20.
Over that weekend, Society will screen several of Whitaker’s movies including ‘Bird’ (Whitaker’s 1988 characterization of jazz great Charlie Bird Parker); ‘Ghost Dog – The Way of the Samurai’ (’99 portrayal of “Ghost Dog,” an Afro American mob hit man who models himself after Japanese samurai of old) and of course the critically acclaimed ‘Last King of Scotland’ where Whitaker plays Uganda dictator Idi Amin.
Whitaker will appear in person and be interviewed by Film Society director of programming Kent Jones.
