'Get Smart' crews up, Hathaway and Carell set to star

Monsters and Critics spoke to the production offices today for "Get Smart," the upcoming film remake of the classic 60's television hit that featured Don Adams and Barbara Feldon as two CONTROL agents always at odds with KAOS, their rival intelligence agency.  The film has secured some important department heads to round out the crew.

The new film "Get Smart" features Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99.  No word yet on the Chief, or Siegfried (if he is even portrayed in this movie), the perpetually crammed in something Agent 13, or the modeled after Bond's "Q" character Carlson, who was played brilliantly by Stacy Keach Sr. in the television series.

Hot off "Apocalypto" and "Click" where he used the Panavision Genesis camera, Aussie Dean Semler will act as cinematographer for director Peter Segal. 

Deborah Scott will serve as Costume Designer.  Scott, who won an Oscar in 1998 for "Titanic," collaborates frequently with Michael Bay, and was C.D. on "The Island", "Transformers," and "Bad Boys II."  She also did the costume design for "Seraphim Falls" - the upcoming movie featuring Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan, and "Reign Over Me" starring Adam Sandler, directed by Mike Binder.

Set Decorator chosen for "Smart" is Leslie Rollins, who recently wrapped "The Departed" with Scorsese, and "The Good Shepherd" for De Niro.  Prop master for "Smart" is Tim Wiles, who works frequently with Adam Sandler's production company, Happy Madison, serving as prop master on "Click," "The Longest Yard," "50 First Dates" and "Punch Drunk Love."
