Rocker turned film maker Rob Zombie's production offices are opening this month in Los Angeles for Halloween 9, and the word from production insiders is the mask Michael Myers will don is identical to the original one of 1978.
The cast selected for this horror franchise is lead Tyler Mane, legendary Malcolm McDowell, Daeg Faerch and Heather Bowen. Zombie answered the mask question on his MySpace Blog and he shared with his fans: Exactly the same. "It looks perfect. exactly like the original. Not since 1978 has the shape looked so good."
The story is a continuation of the Michael Myers saga, his long stay at a mental institution going on 17 years, he is mistakenly released. Guess where he goes, just like a homing pigeon he goes back to Haddonfield, the scene of his proverbial crime(s) and lots of gory mayhem ensues.
Special effects guru Wayne Toth joins Zombie again as special effects makeup designer, he collaborated on "1000 Corpses" and "Devil's Rejects" with Zombie, and his hot off Rodriguez and Tarantino's "Grindhouse" and Michael Bay's "Transformers".
Zombie, born Robert Bartleh Cummings of Haverhill, Massachusetts, is a renaissance hard rocker, musician, director, and writer. His grindhouse, natty dread style and distinct touch distinguishes his unique sound in rock group, White Zombie. He has successfully crossed over to the visual medium of film and established his career with the horror exploitation feature, "House of 1000 Corpses", and its sequel, "The Devil's Rejects".
The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, an animated film based on Zombie's comic book series of the same name, is due for release in 2007.
