Avec Monsieur Robert De Niro, peut-etre. George Clooney is rumored to be close to finalizing a deal to star in Forster's "36"
Production Weekly has tipped that actor Clooney, recently of "The Good German" is close to finalizing his deal opposite Robert De Niro, who is also a producer in director Marc Forster's next film, "36".
"36" is a remake of the classic French police drama, "36 Quai des Orfevres" which starred Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil as a pair of detectives on the Paris beat. Many foreign film buffs have voiced displeasure on reinventing what is conceived as "a perfect wheel" on numerous movie blogs and entertainment web sites over this bit of news.
Scribe Dean Georgaris, who did the screenplays "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life" and "Tristan & Isolde" is adapting the script, and the location is set in New York reports Production Weekly.
Paramount will be distributing the film, and Penn Station and Tribeca Productions are producing.
