Old pals actor Harrison Ford and film makers Steven Spielberg and George Lucas have confirmed the fourth Indiana Jones film beginning production in June of 2007.
Lucas will produce through his company Lucasfilm, Spielberg will direct and Ford will star as Jones. The question remains about Jones' father played by Sean Connery, and if he will return to the mix too.
Ford, 64, said to The Hollywood Reporter: "I'm delighted to be back in business with my old friends. I don't know if the pants still fit, but I know the hat will."
The first three "Indiana" films grossed a combined $1.1+billion worldwide.
The franchise began in 1981's 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', 1984's 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' and 1989's 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
Lucas said: "It's going to be fantastic. It's going to be the best one yet."
The word if Sean Connery will return as Indiana's father is unknown, but a hopeful Lucas has previously said he will be writing a part for him in the film.

By the time it's released they'll change the title to 'The Geriatric India Jones's last fling'
Please folks...don't complain so much; just be glad there's gonna be another Jones movie; it will be a huge plus in my presbyopic eyes if Sean Connery co-stars.
Twenty-six years between the first movie and the fourth one. I don't think the NAZIs were in power that long, so who's he going to battle in this episode? Joe McCarthy? Mao Ze Tung? Kruschev?
Indiana Jones aged at 64... hmmmm... I like Harrison Ford but he will be needing a lot of stuntmen to do the jumps and kicks for him... I wonder who will be his nemesis this time around. Given Indiana Jones age, Hugh Hefner may be suitable with him popping viagra pills during the takes to energize himself...
who said that the period of the film would take place after the last crusade adventure?
Good point.....rumour has it that the next film finishes off where the first one started....in the amazon jungle. Perhaps Indy finds the Lost City of Gold or the key to Atlantis?
If they want to make this movie a hit, then pencil out Sean Connery.
The plot of the movie should focus on Indiana' Jones kid.
A 20 year old something kid following in his dad's footsteps.
No one is going to pay to see two old men (Harrison Ford and Sean Connery) on the widescreen together for two hours.
People will pay to see the next generation Indiana Jones character, his son.
Hollywood has to find the right actor to play Indiana Jones kid.
The plot of the movie is easy to make.
It would be 18 years after 1938, his last adventure.
That would take us to the year 1956.
The plot could be about discovering artifacts from a ancient civilzation that really built the Great Sphinx or the Pyramids in Egypt
Or discovering a crashed UFO and fighting the U.S. government to bring it to the publics knowledge.
A lot of great plots are possible, since it will take place in 1956.
But Hollywood will screw this movie up and cast Harrison Ford and Sean Connery in it and nobody will go to see it.
Including me.
Thank you.
Are they kidding!? Or just bored? Have they really run out of ideas or is it just because of the revenue potential? I find it difficult to comprehend why such great minds would toil in such a mediocre landscape while there are still so many fabulous stories yet to be told. Perhaps it's time to run a national competition for story lines that are submitted to a central 'story repository' from which moderators pass on the ones they think are the best. Get your kids thinking America! Inspire them; give them some meaningful, passionate, uplifting, spirited content…or…is that it? Perhaps this is the very reason why the mass is becoming the media.
And you've just got to love SS's last comment...'We hope it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones.'
Like he’s a REAL person with a REAL past!
Or is he referring to memories?
Guess it’s exciting for them. Can’t anyone remember the enormous hype surrounding GL’s Star Wars Episode III and what a complete and utter letdown it was? Not that this next installment of the Indiana franchise will be similar.
Anyway, all the best boys.

PS. Not that there's the faintest chance whatsoever of anyone seeing this here. The news is already OLD!
Cont...
OLD as in obsolete. The article is already buried under a mountain of 2 days worth of NEW information.

Just on Steve's comment again:
'We hope it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones.'
It's the use of 'our' history that seems odd.
Their personal history in respect of the film is the result, not the experience. And the result for them was that it generated enormous revenue.
So who exactly are they making this film for and why? For the fans? Is there a site I don't know about where millions of fans are screaming for another installment?
OUR - pronoun, nominative I, possessive my or mine, objective me; plural nominative we, possessive our or ours, objective us; noun, plural I's.
– pronoun 1. the nominative singular pronoun, used by a speaker in referring to himself or herself.
– noun 2. (used to denote the narrator of a literary work written in the first person singular).
3. Metaphysics. the ego.
Perhaps people should consider looking a little deeper into the motives behind the need these people have to create another fictionalized product.
The truth is in the revenue and I'm over the representation that it's for supposed entertainment purposes.
As I said, these great, creative minds are actually missing the opportunity to use their collective skills, talents and superior craftsmanship to generate content that matters in this time in [our] history. Or have they given up and reverted back to a 'bread and circus' mentality?

PS. Why this site places current comments last is beyond me?!
I am a massive Indiana Jones fan. Seeing all three previous movies for 20 years, I am only 26 just to add that.. I WANT to see Harrison back as Indy, and Sean back as his father. I want it to be focused on Indy.... Why? Because it's INDIANA JONES. Get a grip people. Harrison is an outstanding actor who can make this movie a success with great director Steven Spielberg (tell me..when has HE ever made a clunker of a movie?) As far as I recall he has never made a bad movie. This will not be Rocky Balboa... trust me. Harrison is a byfar better actor to begin with, Spielberg is one great director and George Lucas is an better than average writer.
So what if the actors are older...
I for one cannot wait for it...and see Harrison playing Indiana once again.

This movie has been on and off more times then a strobelight. They better get it right this time, as fans of the series probably won't accept much less than a perfect movie.
