Guillermo del Toro does Tarzan
By M&C News Dec 15, 2006, 11:52 GMT

Well, some people may think he is crazy, but Guillermo del Toro is in talks with Warner Brothers and producer Jerry Weintraub to bring back Edgar Rice Burroughs, jungle man “Tarzan.”
Del Toro grew up reading Spanish translations of the classic and feels that even though the character has been portrayed in radio, TV and comics since 1914 when Burroughs introduced Tarzan, there is a lot more that can be developed using Burroughs original writing.
"I'd love to create a new version that is still a family movie, but as edgy as I can make it," Del Toro said. "There are strong themes of survival of a defenseless child left behind in the most hostile environment."
John Collee (‘Happy Feet’) is also in negotiations with the WB to script del Toro’s film.
"John will be writing it alone, as I'll be in production on 'Hellboy 2' and pursuing writing projects of my own," Del Toro is reported to have said. "He's got a great sense of adventure and the wilderness."

I think this is a great idea. I cannot wait for a new serious take on the legend of Tarzan. Del Toro will do a bang up job and the movie will be a box office smash.
I have been waiting for all the lod tarzan movies to be on dvd for years .I have just about given up.But I still keep looking. The vhs and DVD's that I have are all poor copies from a TV marathon but I love Tarzan movies and watch them just the same.It would be great to get remastered copies of all the old Tarzan movies.
